Abidance, 2023

A 8-minute piece exploring and commenting on eurocentricity and the fusion of codified genres of the music and dance with new-age experimentation. Working with a cast of 8 movers, and music consisting of a dub remix of the Swan Lake OP 20. Suite by Tchaikovsky mixed by Mattias Arfmann, “Viva!- Orion Mix” (a remix of Vivaldi’s Four Season’s -Winter), and a classical composition of Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone” by Dutch String Artists, the piece explores scenes of hyperawareness, pageantry, and authentic connection. Collectively the music makes for a very uptempo electronic symphony, blending electronic dance music with various orchestral pieces. The piece speaks for itself as a fusion of the past and present, classical and commercial. Even if it is too dense or niche in subject matter, it’s entertaining as hell!

SUBLIMATION by Kinetech Arts photos by Jingjing Liu

Sublimation with Kinetech Arts, 2022

Kinetech Arts has been immersed in a three year research on AI history and its impact on humanity. Sublimation is the culmination of this research, which inspired the creation of installations, performances, texts, interactive sound devices, AI diaries and site-specific dance performances.

Sublimation explores the transitory nature of modern time and technology. It asks the centuries old question of how technology impacts humans, but under the light of AI (Artificial Intelligence), which is advancing unimaginably quickly, as Moore’s law predicts. Its exponential growth of doubling every two years is certain to bring unimaginable transformations.

Taking from the playbook of today’s information-overloaded world, this experience is composed of multiple overlapping threads of dances, installations, images and soundscapes, both inside and outside of the large warehouse.

Special thanks to Dai and Wei for letting me be a part of this installation and process.

No Habla Espanol, with Marga Gomez, 2018

A solo to the comedic score, “Long Island Iced Latina” by Marga Gomez. The piece itself reflects the frustrations of past integration and the lost of culture in American family lineages. It displays the anger and isolating nature of what it is like to be a Latina that fails to speak Spanish.
